Flagstaff has many of the amenities of a larger city, without the big crowds, bustling freeways and long lines to contend with. Below are just a few entertainment ideas to think about while visiting the area. Many are within walking distance of the hostel or just a short drive away.

The Arboretum Of Flagstaff
  Visit the fragrant and colorful gardens and greenhouses. Enjoy the dazzling array of plants native to northern AZ, as well as other exotic species. Guided tours and birdwalks are available; or explore the 1.2 mile nature trail on your own. 20 minutes driving time from the hostel. 774-1442
Arizona Snowbowl
  Enjoy winter snowboarding and skiing on the scenic slopes of Arizona's high country. The Snowbowl boasts the most vertical drop of any ski area in Arizona and offers year-round fun for outdoor enthusiasts. Flagstaff Nordic Center
  Cross country skiing at its best on groomed trails through the lovely Coconino National Forest. During the off-season the Nordic Center offers the mountain biker more than 20 miles of two-track trails. Rentals, lessons and snowshoeing.  15 minutes driving from the hostel. 779-1951
Lowell Observatory
  Delve into astronomy. Visit the telescope that made history when Pluto was first seen through it. The observatorys' visitor center offers programs, tours, hands on exhibits, a celestial theater and  night sky viewing.

The Museum Club - "THE ZOO"
  Have fun in a nightclub housed in the southwest's largest log cabin - built in 1931. Dance around the indoor trees to live country western music.  Nicknamed the "Zoo" due to its collection of unique preserved animals, this famous roadhouse is rich in legends and ghost stories. 10 minutes driving time from the hostel on historic route 66 -- free transportation available. 526-9434 
Museum of Northern Arizona
  Explore the geology, anthropology, biology and fine arts of the Colorado Plateau region. Study an extensive collection of artifacts - more than 5 million specimens. See the finest works of traditional and contemporary Native American artists. 10 minutes driving time from the hostel.

Riordan Mansion
  Journey back in time to the turn of the century as you tour this unique and expansive forty-room home. See a pristine historical environment filled with original artifacts and hand-crafted furniture. Explore Downtown Flagstaff
