Flagstaff enjoys four
distinct seasons, however its temperate climate provides
an ideal alternative to cold harsh winters, and hot humid summers.
Temperatures can vary whatever the season, so it's always helpful to
dress in layers.

You are advised to use
sunscreen and carry water at all times because of the dry climate,
altitude and brilliant sun, especially if you are hiking. A brimmed
hat is useful for sunny days; and most days are sunny. However, due
to the dry air and the altitude of 7000 feet, night
time temperatures can drop significantly. A summer day might be unusually
warm at 90 degrees, then cool to a crisp 60 degrees that same night.
July and August bring the monsoons - sudden afternoon rainstorms that
generally disappear by late in the day. Visitors can usually rely on
Fall to be beautiful, warm and sunny. Winter brings lower temperatures
that can drop below freezing at night, also some snow but it usually
melts quickly. Spring is typically variable and unpredictable, sometimes
windy and weve even had snow in June! Your best bet is to be
prepared for any type of weather.
